An anti-drug task force, in a raid, arrested the ruling Awami League local leader Abdul Kadir Mollah, 70, and seized 2235 pieces of Yaba tablets on Saturday midnight at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria.
Kadir is the president of Akhaura municipality ward-8. During the drive, the task force seized the Yaba tablets, eight mobile phones, Yaba tablet packing machine and drug consuming instruments from his residence.
Assistant director of district narcotics department Md Mizanur Rahman confirmed the information. A case was filed in this connection with Akhaura police station against Kadir Mollah and his son Sohagh Mollah.
Officials said that a team of anti-drug task force formed by the DNC, the police and an executive magistrate conducted the raid at Kadir Mollah’s house on Saturday midnight.
They arrested Kadir Mollah, but Sohagh Mollah, 40, escaped from the scene.
